Lutheran World Relief continues to respond to relief and recovery needs in the Philippines following December 2012’s Typhoon Bopha, which affected approximately 6.2 million people on the island of Mindanao. As of April 3, more than 855,000 people remained displaced due to the storm, according to the U.N.

LWR is implementing cash-for-work (CFW) activities in storm-affected areas of Mindanao, giving much-needed cash to impacted families and contributing to the removal of storm debris. More than 3,500 people have participated in our CFW project as of April 5. By the end of the project, approximately 6,000 individuals will work to clear debris and receive cash for relief and recovery supplies. Thousands more will benefit from the cleared roads, schools and other public places where CFW projects are in action.

In addition, LWR has distributed Quilts and Kits generously donated by donors like you to families affected by the storm. In total, LWR’s quilts and kits reached approximately 80,000 people in areas hit by Typhoon Bopha.

Thank you for your support!
